Strohm-Ade House
Welcome to the home of the Ade Family in Historic Kentland.
I fell in love with this once regal home from across the country. The uncommon turret, huge porch for entertaining, all of the peaks and valleys of the roof line, the gorgeous woodwork, and spacious rooms.
Research showed that Kentland was one of the safest places to live in all of the United States.
Overtime, I have furnished the house from antique stores and private sales from the west coast to Indiana. I have about $180k invested in this project, not including my own time, efforts, and labor.
The Newton County Historical Society provided excellent information to assist me in getting the home onto the Indiana State DNR.
Not only was the home architecturally exceptional, but it also had great historic importance. John Ade and his wife, Adaline resided in this home. John Ade was the first recorder of Newton County. He chronicled the history of the county in a book which he penned in this home. In addition, John and Adaline's son was the world renown playwright and author, George Ade. George has had a great influence on movies, books, politics, culture and philanthropy throughout his lifetime and his philanthropy has continued to be a gift that keeps on giving throughout Indiana and especially at Purdue. He provided funds for the Purdue Memorial Union, and Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Restoration of Strohm-Ade House is open to any capable contributor that may wish to provide labor, materials, or funds. It includes a series of fundraisers intended to provide funds to maintain, repair, restore, and improve this important historic place that once belonged to one of Purdue University's, Sigma Chi Delta Delta's, and Indiana's well-known benefactors, George Ade. Ade's column in the Chicago Newspaper went viral as he brought to life characters from the streets. He traveled the world and made it a better place. Please honor all the historic founders by preserving this home with your donation, no matter how big or small, all donations will be greatly appreciated.
